2019 Chefs Table Awards

Sandhurst Fine Foods were proud to be a partner of the 2019 Chef’s Table Competition, created by ClubsNSW.

The event was created to award and recognise the many talented chefs, cooks and apprentices in NSW Clubs, by challenging kitchen teams in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Last night, we celebrated the incredible talents of the up and coming chefs with the Chef’s Table Awards at Doltone House, Sydney. The judging panel agreed that the dishes prepared and created were world class standard.

The Gold Award was won by Jonathan Heath and Tom Harris from Cessnock Leagues Club’s Vincent St Kitchen + Bar. The duo were complimented on their consistently high standard of presentation, as well as great technical execution of their vichyssoise in entree, and crèmeux in dessert.

First-time Chef’s Table entrants Freddie Salim and Thanh Ngo from Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club have taken out the Silver Award. The judges noted their main course of ‘Saigon Chicken’ was “amazingly cooked – gleaming and tender.”

Bronze went to Mosman Club’s Mitch Davis and Yang Qui. The judges made special note of their ‘Citrus Bombe Alaska’ dessert, which has “amazing balance and flavour – spot on with the execution of sweet and sour flavours”.

A big congratulations to Summer Carson from The Illawarra Master Builders Club who was recognised as Chefs Table 2019 Apprentice of the Year! Supported by fellow chef Paolo de Luca, Summer was recognised for her general passion in the kitchen, fantastic technique and hygiene, as well as her polite and courteous manner in the competition.

The chefs involved in the competition commented on how much being part of Chef’s Table has helped them develop and evolve, and they will be taking their new skills back to their Club kitchens.

Events such as the Chef’s Table Competition highlights the fact that Clubs are now employing the nation’s best chefs, and this standard of cooking will continue to thrive as the passion and dedication to the hospitality industry further exceeds expectations.

The Chef’s Table by ClubsNSW is now the largest culinary competition in the southern Hemisphere.

Sandhurst Fine Foods is grateful to have been part of this year’s Chef’s Table Competition and looks forward to another year of witnessing emerging superstars in the food industry born out of your local club.
